OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue charity, rescuing quality, excess food from commercial food businesses and delivering it fresh and free of charge to charities on the frontline of food insecurity, including emergency relief programs, community centres, homelessness shelters, domestic and family violence refuges and school breakfast programs. In Queensland, OzHarvest’s bright yellow, refrigerated vans operate in Brisbane, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Townsville, rescuing over 30,000 kilograms of nutritious food and delivering it to more than 250 charitable agencies each week, subsequently diverting it from landfill and helping to make a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable people across the state. The precious funding these charities save on purchasing food is then reinvested in other vital services they provide such as housing, education and rehabilitation.
